Choosing the right CNC machining partner is one of the highest-leverage decisions in a parts-sourcing program. Here is the checklist we recommend importers use before placing their first order.
1. Engineering capability
Ask how the supplier handles design review. A strong partner will return DFM feedback on tolerances, wall thickness and tool access before quoting — not after you sign.
2. Quality system
Look beyond the ISO certificate. Ask for example inspection reports, how critical dimensions are measured, and whether CMM data can be provided with shipments.
3. Communication
Time zone overlap and response time matter. A supplier who answers technical questions in 24 hours will save you weeks over the life of a project.
4. IP protection
Confirm that drawings and part files are handled confidentially. Signing an NDA and checking how files are stored is cheap insurance.
5. Start small
Place a prototype order first. It reveals real quality, communication and lead time — the things no brochure can promise.
